Everything about this piece was a surprise; it was labelled pohutukawa by mistake, but is definitely totara. The straight even grain with rich red tones has convinced me to seek out more of this timber. A versatile timber used by both Maori and settler alike, it still has a lot to give. Complimented here with a cypress lid and insert. This product has been carefully finished in environmentally friendly natural oils and waxes.
