Totara has at least two interesting features: it produces its own oil that does not like paint- used for joinery the early days paints had to be specially formulated; it also grows burls- a sort of 'growth’ that can produce incredible twisted grain. This piece is quite straight but hints at some pressure on the tree with a beautiful ripple on one side. Seen by others, what beauty do we produce? This product has been carefully finished in environmentally friendly natural oils and waxes.
