The fine-grained Tasmanian blackwood, a commonly grown exotic tree, lends itself a deep rich finish. Here it is enhanced by a single ring of brilliantly polished paua (New Zealand native abalone) from the cool waters of the deep south. The dark base is crafted from ebonised walnut, another exotic common in New Zealand. The blend of these natural products can remind us of the blends and mixes we find in life; sometimes something so contrasting can add so much. The product has been carefully finished in environmentally friendly natural oils and waxes.
